Symptoms

Resolution
This issue may occur if the vSphere Web Access service is not started on the ESX host.
Note: This service is disabled by default in ESX 4.0.
To log in to an ESX 4.0 host using vSphere Web Access:
1. Determine if the vSphere Web Access service is running on the ESX host:

2. Run the command:
service vmware-webAccess status
The output indicates if the service is running.
3. If the vSphere Web Access service is stopped, start it with the command:
service vmware-webAccess start
4. To configure the vSphere Web Access service to run automatically, run the command:
chkconfig --level 345 vmware-webAccess on
You can now use vSphere Web Access to log in to the ESX host.
