微软的多媒体中心PC(Media Center PC)是他们试图结合PC和家电两个概念的一款产品，他们在操作系统中针对家庭多媒体应用做了一定的修改和完善，MCE版的Windows操作系统相对于普通Windows系统而言更加方便、易用，对于多媒体应用也支持的更好。

此前的MCE版系统都是微软在发布普通版本发布之后才推出了，据称微软的新一代操作系统Vista将会同时推出多个版本，我们下面要看到的就是新一代的Vista版MCE系统：

设定界面和现有的MCE2005没有太多的区别

帮助界面同样保持了一致性

新系统中主菜单显得更加美观

电影和DVD播放功能已经集成到了顶级菜单，MCE2005中的“DVD播放”菜单项不见了

新系统的电影库可以显示更大的电影图片，同时为电影内容预览提供了更多的显示空间，但也减少了同屏显示的其他影片信息

这是新系统的新功能，照片和视频组合在一个菜单中

音乐库显示的内容得到了一定程度的丰富

目前有消息表明Windows Vista正式发布后,可能会出现七个以上的版本。其中除了目前比较长见的Vista starter Edition，Vista Home Basic Edition以外，还将推出一个Ultimate Edition版本。

Adds DVD video authoring, HDTV support, DVD ripping support

Similar to current XP Media Center edition but with added features

 

Windows Vista Professional Edition

Aimed at the business consumer

Can join domain, has IIS web server

Akin to XP Pro

 

Windows Vista Small Business Edition

Designed for small businesses without IT staff

Backup and Shadow Copy support, Castle and server-join networking, and PC fax and scanning utility

  微软PDC专业开发者大会上透露出下一代操作系统Windows Vista对处理器和内存的支持情况。     
  
    1、Windows Vista Starter Edition仅支持1颗32-bit处理器，最大支持256MB内存，显示分辨率被限制在1024x768和以下。

    2、Home Basic, Home Premium, Home N, Professional, Professional N, Small Business, Enterprise和Ultimate Editions版本的Windows Vista，将有32-bit和64-bit版本出货，或者同时支持32-bit和64-bit。所有的Home版Windows Vista，都仅支持1颗处理器，而Busniness版的Windows Vista，支持2颗处理器。

    3、Home Basic和Home N版本的Windows Vista，最大支持8GB内存，而Home Premium版Windows Vista，在32-bit和64-bit PC上最大支持16GB内存。其它版本的Windows Vista，在32-bit系统上将支持最大的物理内存容量，在x64系统上最大支持128GB内存。
